
In this 10 hour on-demand virutal course you will learn how to adapt most of the Yin Yoga postures to be based from a chair. All postures will be taught from two perspectives:

Meeting the needs of seniors and other students who are unable to practice from the floor

Offering a chair based approach to Yin asana for students who are able to access the floor, but may want/need to access the poses a chair based position. This approach can be utilized in the office, while traveling or just to get a different perspective of their existing practice

Use of props such as bolsters, blocks, blankets & straps within Chair adaptations

How to lead integrated mat/chair Yin classes

How to teach posture visulization practices

The fundamental principles of teaching Yin Yoga functionally

Teaching methodology & sequencing for Chair Yin

Three 65 minute Chair Yin classes
Throughout the course, you will have direct access to Michelle (lead trainer) to ask any questions that may arise. This gives you the opportunity to fine tune your skills in teaching Yin Yoga more accessibly.

The course includes a 40 page digital manual, complete with color pictures of all of the postures and many of their variations.


Who it is for
This course is primarily for certified Yin Yoga teachers to be taken as continued education. However, experienced hatha or restorative yoga teachers who have at least one year experience practicing Yin Yoga are welcome to attend as well.

Course Structure
This course is structured in many short 5-20 minute videos that provide a detailed explanaition of the poses, teaching methodology and various considerations when leading a chair yin class. Within the course, you will have several opportunities to test your knowledge through quizzes and practice teaching exercises.
Recommended Prerequisite Studies

If you have not been exposed to the functional approach to Yin Yoga (in a training capacity), as taught by Paul & Suzee Grilley (or their teaching assistants), it is highly recommended that you participate in the Introduction to the Functional Approach course prior to beginning this one. While some of the fundamental concepts are covered in this course, a more in-depth exposure will allow the learning opportunity offered in the Chair Yin training to unravel with greater ease.
