About the Training

There are many different approaches to yoga and each exists for good and valid reasons. Our advanced teacher training focuses on the balancing principles of Yin and Yang, the two fundamental and complementary primary forces of the Universe. Yang is characterized by strength, rhythm and repetition, Yin by softness, stillness and ease.

A truly fulfilling life contains a healthy balance of both Yin and Yang; too much Yang can lead to rigidity and aggression where too much Yin may result in weakness or depression. A benefit to the practice of yoga is to develop the intuition and the wisdom to know what we need and when we need it. Some people are more drawn to yin, others to yang, but everybody needs a balance of both energies. The practice of yoga asana is simply a stepping stone toward greater harmony. As the mind calms and the body opens, a well of vibrant energy emerges, allowing us to explore our full potential as human beings


Advanced certification is achieved when all eight modules are completed.

This training cannot be combined with any other courses taken from another RYS to qualify as a 300 hour certification. All modules must be taken from Exalt Yoga & Wellness.

 
 

Required Modules for Certification

To achieve a 300 hour certification with Exalt Yoga, you will need to complete each of the eight modules; Yin Foundations, Yin-Yang Qi Cultivation, Fascia & Myofascial Release, Functional Vinyasa Foundations, Advanced Functional Vinyasa, Philosophy & the Chakras, Meditation & Pranayama and the Business of Yoga. This will give you a total of 334 hours of training, which fulfills the 2022 Yoga Alliance requirement of 300 contact hours (the remaining 34 hours are non-contact learning achieved via recorded material or reading). 

Yin Modules

50hr - Yin Foundations and Lower Body Anatomy

Description:

Dives deep into the primary principles of Yin yoga theory, asana, teaching methodology and sequencing, lower body anatomy (feet to pelvis) and the four foundations of mindfulness.

50hr - Yin-Yang Qi Cultivation and Torso Anatomy

Description:

Fundamentals of the Traditional Chinese Medicine meridian theory, location of energy sinews & their connection to Yin Yoga, Taoist Yang Flows (as taught by Paul & Suzee Grilley), Qi cultivation meditations, pranayama and torso anatomy.

Prerequisite: Yin Foundations & Lower Body Anatomy

50hr -  Fascia, Myofascial Release and Upper Body Anatomy

Description:

In depth fascia study in relation to Yin Yoga, location & function major trigger & acupressure points, applying self-myofascial release both within and along side a Yin Yoga practice, upper body anatomy (shoulder to hands) and chakra meditation. 

Prerequisite: Yin Foundations & Lower Body Anatomy

This module includes a complete Myofascial Release kit mailed directly to your home

Yang Modules

50hr - Functional Vinyasa Foundations and Lower Body Anatomy

Description:

Foundations of the functional approach to Vinyasa yoga, most fundamental hatha asana (prone backbends, standing balance, basic standing, seated & supine postures) and lower body anatomy (low back to feet).

Description:

Expanding on the functional approach to Vinyasa yoga, many advanced postures (supine backbends, binds, twists, inversions & arm balances) and upper body anatomy (mid-spine to hands).

40hr - Tantric Philosophy, Chakras and Brain/Spinal Cord Anatomy

Description:

In depth look into Tantric philosophy, tools and techniques (chakras, mantras and mudras), Bhagavad Gita, Karma, Dharma, Tatvas, Gunas, Koshas, Yamas and Niyamas, brain and spinal cord anatomy.

40hr - Meditation & Pranayama Retreat in New Harmony

$1,300 (in-person)*

Description:

Comprehensive study of several different approaches to meditation durived from both Buddhist and Tantric teachings in addition to various pranayama practices. This module will be held in a residential retreat format to give participants to opporunity to dive deep into their meditation experience.

*Registration fee for the Meditation & Pranayama Retreat includes accommodations & meals Tuesday May 4 (dinner) thru Sunday May 9 (breakfast). Enrollment for the 2021 offering of this module has been reduced by half to make it safe for all participants in relation to the COVID pandemic. All students will stay in single rooms, the dining and meditation halls will be socially distanced and, depending on local government requirements at the time, mask may required at during some or all of the group aspects of this course. 

Business Module

4hr - Business of Yoga Online Module

Description:

Business basics, understanding responsibilities of being an independent contractor, marketing strategy and contract negotiation. 

This module will become available to all accepted 300hr students winter 2020-2021.

How to Apply

Students are welcome to participate in individual modules and may apply to those via the links provided above. However, if you are interested in obtaining your full 300hr certification, we as that you apply to the program. We will then advise and mentor you throughout the process of achiveing your certification. With this said, you do not have to apply to the 300hr program prior to attending your first training (or two or three). Simply submit your application when you're ready to let your intention to complete the program be known.

What is functional yoga? 

The functional approach to yoga is an approach where we prioritize what a pose should do over how it looks. We are all unique: our skeletal structure, muscular flexibility, emotional response, mental organization and psychological inclination is all unique to each of us. Our practice should express this individuality. Instead of trying to perform a pose from the outside, copying a shape, we strive to understand what the purpose of the pose is and then adapt it's shape to our unique needs and abilities.

What will I learn?

Anatomy

Garner indepth knowledge of fundamental anatomical principles in order to teach and adapt many of the primary yoga poses to suit every student

Asana

Understand the function of the both Yin and Vinyasa poses and how to practice them to open the way to a long-lasting, effective and fulfilling practice

Meditation

 Dive deep into the practices of mindfulness, meditation and open awareness drawn from Tantric, Taoist and Buddhist psychological teachings

Philosophy

Yoga philosophy can be immensely helpful on our road to disentangle ourselves from our unconscious behaviour patterns and supports development and growth from within.

Where is the training held? What is the format of the training? What is the schedule?

 

Location: For the remainder of 2020 and the entire year of 2021 this certification program will be offered exculsively in a virtual setting (with exception of the Meditation & Pranayama module).  All of our virtual offerings are 90% live, via Zoom, and accompanied by pre-recorded material for the other 10%. 

Format: All of our trainings vary between a two weekend and a five day intensive format. You can choose the format the suits the needs of your schedule!

Do I have to be a teacher to attend the training modules? 

No, you do not have to be a teacher. Everyone is welcome. These modules are designed to deepen your knowledge and experience of yoga as a practitioner, to gain a deeper understanding of your unique body, and align with its needs to create an enhanced experience of strength and ease. Any practitioner will benefit immensely from these modules.

The meditation and pranayama module offers an extensive look at the subtle and transformational practices of meditation, pranayama, kriya and techniques to help balance a modern day busy mind, creating a sense of ease and peacefulness. The philosophy module presents insights, practices, and opportunities to connect with yourself at a deeper level, to recognize your obstacles that keep you from living your best and most joyful and fulfilling life, to build your inner radiance through the integration of the practices, and to develop your ability to make positive and long lasting changes.

Note: Any modules taken prior to completing a 200hr training, cannot be applied toward a 300hr certification, per Yoga Alliance guidelines.

How/where do I apply? How/where do I sign up for the modules? 

You can sign up online. The general application for the overall 300hr program can be found by clicking here. Once you complete this application, we will notify you within 14 days of your acceptance status.

Once accepted, you may then proceed to apply to the training course you wish to attend first. Note that there are separate applications for the Yin, Vinyasa, Philosophy and Meditation modules. Once we receive the correlating application for each training, we will send you registration information for enrollment. In order to guarantee your place in any desired training courses, you will need to register for that specific module, and pay in full online, via the link provided in your acceptance letter. 

Do I need to take the modules in any specific order?

 

For the two Yang Vinaysa modules, the Foundations module is a prerequisite before taking the advanced Vinyasa.

For the three Yin based modules, it is required that the Foundations module be taken prior to other modules. However, you may submit a request for approval to skip the Foundations module and go straight into the Yin-Yang Qi Cultivation or Fascia & Myofascial Release modules if you have past functionally based Yin training. Note that even if you obtain this approval, you may be required to purchase and pre-view the five hour Introduction to the Functional Approach video and submit the required associated assignment prior to the onset of training. 

The Philosophy, Meditation/Pranayama, and online Business modules can be taken at any time through the course of the training. 

How long will it take to complete the program? 

A unique aspect to our training is that you can complete this training in one year or five! The timeline is completely up to you. There is no forcing your life to fit a particular schedule or straining your budget to meet the requirements of this program. You may take the modules at any location that works best for you. At this time, registration is open for all of the 2020 & 2021 modules. 

Are there any prerequisites before applying for the training? 

This advanced certification is available to any yoga teacher who has completed a 200hr yoga teacher training and has at least two years of dedicated practice in Yin and/or Yang (e.g. vinyasa, hatha, ashtanga, etc.) styles of yoga.

Those that are not already certified yoga teachers are welcome to attend any modules desired knowing that all courses attended prior to the completion of a 200 hour training cannot and will not qualify for a 300 hour certification.

What is Exalt Yoga’s Teacher Training refund and cancellation policy?

If you have been accepted into a training but are no longer able to attend, cancellations must be made in writing to exaltyinyoga@gmail.com

For cancellations on courses within the continental United States more than 90 days prior to the training, we will refund whatever you have paid minus a $100 processing fee. For cancellations 90-31 days prior to the onset of training, refunds will issued minus a $250 processing fee. For cancellations less than 31 days prior to the onset of training, refunds will only be possible if we are able to fill your place from our waiting list. Please be aware that there is no guarantee that we will be able to fill your place, since as time goes by, people from the waiting list often times make other commitments for the training dates. No refunds will be given for failure to attend or failure to complete the training.

For cancellations on courses outside of the continental United States more than 120 days prior to the training, we will refund whatever you have paid minus a $100 processing fee. For cancellations 120-60 days prior to the onset of training, refunds will issued minus a $250 processing fee. For cancellations less than 60 days prior to the onset of training, refunds will only be possible if we are able to fill your place from our waiting list. Do you help organize accommodations for traveling students? 

No, we do not. However, we do highly recommend Airbnb for cost effective accommodations. There are many Airbnb options very near to all locations Exalt offers training courses.

Virtual 50 hour modules are currently $599

In-person 50 hour modules are currently $749

Virtual 40 hour modules are currently $499

In-person 40 hour Philosophy & Chakra module is currently $599

The residential Meditation & Pranayama module held in New Harmony, Indiana is $1300

How many students are enrolled in each module at one time?

Virtual modules are limited to the first 10-15 students registered. For 2021 the meditation module will be limited to 13-15 students in order to maintain appropriate physical distancing throughout the retreat. 

What is the attendance and class make up policy?

You are required to attend 100% all sessions in order to receive your certificate. With this said, we understand that life happens and may require you to miss some time.

Virtual Trainings: Let the trainer know at least 48 hours in advance. The course will be recorded and made available to you for exactly seven calendar days to view any material missed. Homework may be assigned, at the discretion of the trainer, to make up time as well.

In-person Trainings: If time is missed and make-up work is required, an additional fee may be assessed. Note: Make up work is only available if you miss a half day or less. If six or more hours are missed, the missed hours must be made up through attendance in a future training covering similar teaching points to what was missed (at no additional cost).
